Katrina is a German name meaning "pure".
How on earth the people who name these natural atrocities ever came up with Katrina is beyond me.
Other more fitting names?
How about:
Kabira (African): Powerful
Kaden (American): Fighter
Kael (Celtic): Mighty Warrior
Kaelin (Celtic): Rejoicer, Waterfall Pool
Kai (Hawaiian): Ocean
Kail (Celtic): Mighty One
Kailani (Hawaiian): Sea and Sky
Kaleb (Hebrew): Bold
Kali (Hindi): Dark Goddess
Kana (Japanese): Powerful
Kanelo (African): Enough
Kanika (Egyptian): Black
Kanoa (Hawaiian): Free One
Kaori (Japanese): Strong
Kapono (Japanese): Righteous
Kare (Scandinavian): Enormous
Karma (Hindi): Fate
Karman (Celtic): Lord of the Castle
Kawena (Hawaiian): Rosy Reflection in the Sky
Keala (Hawaiian): Path
Keegan (Celtic): Bright Flame
Keen (Celtic): Wailing in Mourning
Kerr (Celtic): A Marshland
Kerri (Celtic): Dark & Mysterious
Kesia (African-American): Earthbound
Kilenya (Native American): Coughing Fish
Killian (Celtic): Conflict
Kimi (Japanese): She Who is Without Equal
Kineta (Greek): Full of Energy
Kinipela (Hawaiian): Wave
Kione (African): Someone Who Comes from Nowhere
Kisha (Slavic): Rainfall
Kyra (Greek): Ruler

Honestly, i think they should think about renaming her. I wouldn't call her pure. I'd call her all of the above, and then some.
The ongoing devastation as a result of this catastrophe is horrific. I encourage everyone to pray for the souls of the dead, the dying, and for those who will live through this.
